Michael O’Connor, MD
Pediatric Pulmonary Clinical Fellow, Second Year

Dr. O’Connor is currently a 4 year pediatric pulmonary fellow at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. He
completed medical school at Indiana University and then moved to Vanderbilt where he completed his
pediatric residency before starting his pulmonary fellowship. During his fellowship, Dr. O’Connor
completed research in CF fatty acid metabolism, bronchopulmonary dysplasia in premature infants, and
asthma severity scoring. He will join the faculty at Vanderbilt in July 2016 where he plans to continue this
research.
Ellen O'Kelley, PNP-BC, AE-C

Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt
Ms. O'Kelley, a pediatric nurse practitioner since 1979, is a medical provider in the Children's Lung Center
of MCJCHV . She is certified as an Asthma Educator and is on the Board of Directors of the Association of
Asthma Educators (AAE) where she is Chair of the Advocacy Committee. As such, Ms. O'Kelley represents
AAE at the Childhood Asthma Leadership Coalition whose goal is to improve the prevention, diagnosis,
treatment, and long-term management of childhood asthma through federal policy change and targeted
state efforts. She is a founding member of the TN Asthma Coalition.
Deanna Reese, LCSW
Team Leader for the Pediatric Social Work Department, Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt
Deanna has been with MCJCHV since September 2000, providing psychosocial assessment of and brief
targeted intervention for social, emotional, and environmental issues that impact a patient family's ability
to optimally benefit from health care. Deanna actively collaborates with case management and health
care teams working with children with asthma and their families to meet patient care, outcome
management and system improvement goals. Prior to joining MCJCHV Deanna was employed at Dede
Wallace Center, providing individual, group and family therapy to students, along with educating parents
on child development.
Christian Rosas-Salazar, MD, MPH
Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Allergy, Immunology at Vanderbilt University School of
Medicine and Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt
Dr. Rosas-Salazar received his medical training at the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara School of
Medicine in Guadalajara, Mexico, and his fellowship in Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine at Children’s
Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. He also completed his Master’s in Public Health at the Graduate School
of Public Health of the University of Pittsburgh. His research interests include early-life risk factors for the
development of childhood asthma and has authored numerous articles on this topic.
Natasha A. Vanderbilt, BS, RRT
Pediatric Pulmonary Function Lab, Monroe Carell Jr Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt
Natasha earned her Bachelors of Science degree in 1998 from Tennessee State University in
Cardio-Respiratory Care Sciences. She joined MCJCHV in August 1998, and has been working in the
Pediatric Pulmonary Outpatient Clinic for 15 years. She serves as a lead to her peers and is the supervisor
of Pulmonary Function Lab.
Mark Wurth, MD
Pediatric Pulmonary and Allergy Clinical Fellow, Third Year, Division of Pediatric Allergy, Immunology, and
Pulmonary Medicine, VUMC
Dr. Wurth is a combined pediatric pulmonary and allergy fellow at Vanderbilt. He completed
residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Kentucky, where he graduated
medical school. Dr. Wurth's research interest focus on the evolution of fungal allergy in asthma.
